YOUTH LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY

Teaches skaters the skills needed to play the game of ice hockey. This class will introduce stickhandling, passing, and shooting. This class combines learning with lots of fun and games.

Fridays:  April 4th-June 13th
                No Class on May 23
                6:00-7:00 pm
 End of session evaluation: 
                June 13th  @ 6:00 pm  
End of session game: 
                 June 14th @ 4:00 pm          

Students must have completed the Basic Hockey Lesson program theough the Skate Frederick Learn to Skate series or have the approval of the Hockey Director to participate.  A complimentary individualized evaluation of your skater by Sylvain Cardin, Hockey Director, may be arranged by calling him at (301) 662-7362 ext. 17.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT LEVEL 1

• Designed to enhance basic hockey skills
• Must have completed Learn to Play, be a current in-house player, or pass evaluation by Hockey Director
• Taught by USA Hockey -certified coaches
• Skills aligned with USA Hockey skill development program:  Pivots, Hockey Stops, Tight Turns, Forward Starts, & Open Ice Carries
• Skills instruction plus small area games

7:00-8:00 pm
(May 2 class is at 6:00 pm & No class on March 21)
End of session game:
June 14th , 5:00 pm

• Skills aligned with USA Hockey- Crossover starts, Weak side work, Shooting, One-foot stops, & Edge control
• Skills instruction plus small area games!
